Head of Public Affairs at West Africa Examination Certificate (WAEC), Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, is calling on teachers, supervisors, invigilators, parents, members of the public and all stakeholders to curb the prevalence of examination malpractices in the country.
Speaking on TV3 New Day on August 17, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Madam Agnes says dealing with the issue of exams malpractice is a collective responsibility
She, therefore, urged parents particularly to desist from mounting pressure on their wards to produce unexpected results.
Claims by the Africa Education Watch that the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers were leaked by the WAEC IT department were refuted.
According to the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare, these question papers were sent from West African Examination Council’s (WAEC) IT department to other online platforms which were subsequently forwarded to his outfit by a member on the platform.
Madam Agnes blamed the incident on IT system failure.
“After our investigations, we realized that there was an ICT system failure that led to the unfortunate incident and so that error has been addressed”.
Mrs Teye-Cudjoe advised the public not to believe everything they see on social media purported to be leaked papers. She added that comparisons must always be made between purported leaked papers and original WASSCE papers to arrive at a conclusion.
