It will be a northern, middle and southern sector clash in the quarter-final when Ghana Senior High School from Tamale, Kumasi Academy from Kumasi and Adisadel College from Cape Coast face off in the quarter-final of the 2019 National Science and Maths Quiz. The Ashanti Region school was the first to book a place in the quarter-final on Wednesday, June 26 after seeing off Anlo SHS and Holy Child School in the first contest. KUMACA ironically lagged behind their opponents in Round 1. Anlo SHS led and were followed by Holico. But the Kumasi-based school jumped to the lead from Round 2 and knew no turning back thereafter. They won the contest with 44 points, against Anlo SHS’s 28 points and Holico’s 24. Ghana SHS stride through! The Tamale side mounted the stage in the second contest with New Juaben SHS and Armed Forces SHS, who had emerged triumphant from the preliminaries. Ghana SHS led from start to finish. They amassed a total of 37 points to win the contest. Armed Forces SHTS trailed them in second on 28 points and New Juaben SHS placed third on 25 points. Disco performance for Adisco! The contest that kept everyone expectant was the last, which involved 2016 champions Adisadel College. Though they were given a scare in Round 1, falling behind Ghanata SHS and Nsutaman SHS, the Zebra boys from the Central Region stamped their authority from Round 2. They finished off their opponents with the highest points of the day, 46. Nsutaman SHS came second on 33 points while Ghanata SHS, which led in Round 1, placed third on 28 points. Accra Aca on Thursday! On Thursday, June 27, Bishop Herman College from the Volta Region will come up against St John’s Grammar and Ghana National College in the first contest of the day. That will be followed by another Volta Region school, Awudome SHS, coming up against Tepa SHS and Islamic SHS. Accra Academy will begin their campaign to win the national competition for the first time with a contest against TI AMASS, Fomena and Abuakwa State College.
