Even before balloting is held for this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz, a school from the Ashanti Region has been disqualified. Agogo State College has been disqualified for fielding an unqualified contestant during the Ashanti Region competition last March. The school is said to have fielded the contestant during the contest with Tweneboa Kodua SHS, Wesley  SHS-Konongo and Gyaama Pensan SHTS. The Ghana Education Service (GES) directed the disqualification of Agogo State College. Tweneboa Kodua SHS, therefore, takes the place of Agogo State College in the preliminary round, which starts on June 17, because they came second in that contest. Organisers Primetime Productions stated that over the past 26 years of the quiz, it has “maintained a very high standard of fairness and integrity in the conduct of the National Science & Maths Quiz”. A statement issued by Managing Director of Primetime Nana Akua Ankomah-Asare on Wednesday added, “We shall, therefore, continue to create a level playing field for all participating schools and ensure that each participant of the NSMQ upholds the tenets of fairness, fair play and integrity in their conduct at all times”. This year’s edition will be launched on June 11 with the grand-finale scheduled for July 11 at the National Theatre.
