Driver’s mate stabs Kejetia security guard with screwdriver

A security guard stationed at the Kejetia new market has been allegedly stabbed to death with a screwdriver by a driver’s mate after the suspect’s driver had a scuffle with the deceased over loading at the market.

According to an eyewitness, the incident which happened on Saturday, April 9 after the security guard stabbed the driver, who fell unconscious. This left an angry mate react by stabbing the security guard to death with a screwdriver

Speaking on Akoma FM‘s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma Monday, April 11, the eyewitness who described himself as Prince, a station master at Agric Kwadaso, explained that “during the hot afternoon on Saturday, April 9 all what I saw was a hot misunderstanding between a security guard and a driver. So, the security guard stabbed the driver into an unconscious state, then the driver’s mate also rushed to his car and wielded a screwdriver and stabbed the security guard. He fell unconscious and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital”.

The driver, who was earlier stabbed, is still receiving treatment at the Kejetia hospital while the suspect is in police grips, assisting investigation.

Mayor for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Samuel Payne, wading into the issue, expressed worry about the situation and assured of crunch management meeting to ascertain the issue for possible solutions to avoid recurrence.
