According to the party, although President Mahama has promised to return the properties to the party, and that he has referred the matter to the Attorney General, the party has since not heard anything.
Its presidential candidate, Ivor Greenstreet, has thus asked President Mahama to update the party on the status of the move to return the assets, particularly regarding the advice of the AG.
“Tell us the status of the advise from the Attorney General as promised in your last year’s address. We demand our legal properties back or compensation given us,” Mr Greenstreet said when he met with the party’s leadership in the Eastern Region
A three-storey building housing the Ministry of Information and the Information Services Department (ISD) in Accra; a three-storey building in Sunyani which houses the Brong Ahafo Regional Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service; three separate storey buildings in Takoradi; a two-storey building in Koforidua housing the New Juaben Municipal Assembly office are among assets being the CPP is demanding are released to the party
Others are a storey building in Tarkwa holding state agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Town and Country Planning Department, the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly and others.
Already, the CPP is in court seeking an order to compel government to return these properties and others across the country.
Meanwhile, he said Ghana’s economy is not in the best of shape as President Mahama and his government who are the drivers of the economy, have failed to deliver the best for Ghanaians, saying “it needs to do more for private people and the average Ghanaian.”
He has consequently urged Ghanaians to give the CPP a chance to make a difference in the country
National Chairman of the party Professor Edmund Delle, criticised the government for not doing enough to make the country’s economy vibrant, pointing out that the CPP when given the power, would revive the manufacturing industry
He said his party would count on its new organization, unity and human resource to make an impact in the November polls and warned party faithfuls not to allow their ranks to be divided
” We are resurrecting, change is near, and it’s the rebirth of the CPP. We are counting on three things, organization, unity and the people we have. CPP is the only party that can offer a meaningful change. We will revive the manufacturing industry,” he stated.
