The National Chair of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Stephen Ayensu Ntim has described the flagbearer of the NPP Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as a hard-working person.

He says Dr Bawumia’s hard work has earned him the position of the flagbearer of the NPP for the 2024 elections.

“The election of Dr Bauwmai as flagbearer shows that we are not an exclusivist party but that values diversity and embraces different perspectives. I commend Dr Bawumia for his exceptional determination and hard work which has earned him well-derived position of NPP presidential candidate for 2024,” he said at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) auditorium, the venue for the address on Wednesday Febraury 7.

A presidential staffer Dennis Mircales Aboagye also said Dr Bawumia is a leader Ghanains can trust.

Mr Aboagye indicated that Dr Bawumia is a leader that Ghanaians can afford to sleep knowing that he will deliver.

“He is a leader we can trust, a leader with credibility. He is one that Ghanaians believe they can go to sleep knowing he will deliver. Today we are going to know the new path that the Dr Bawumia is going to take us on and I am excited,” he told journalists

For his part, Government spokesperson on Governance and Security, Palgrave Boakye Danquah, said Dr will form the foundation of the manifesto for the 2024 elections.

The address, he added, will also set the stage for the campaign activities of the NPP to start.

“Dr Bawumia is going to tell the Ghanaian people what he wants to do, it is a very important day for Ghana and for the NPP. His address today will set the stage for capoging, for what he is going to do. What he is going to say will form the foundation and basis for the manifesto,” Boakye Danquah also told journalists UPSA auditorium.

The Vice President’s speech is expected to also emphasize leveraging technology, data, and systems to foster inclusive economic growth.

Dr. Bawumia aims to position Ghana as a digital hub for Africa, narrowing the digital divide and applying digital technology and artificial intelligence to transform sectors such as healthcare, education, and public service delivery.

Dr. Bawumia became the first-ever leader of the NPP of northern descent. Having won the special and main presidential candidate elections of the party, he will take over the reins of the party from his current boss, President Akufo-Addo.

Since assuming office in 2017, Mr Bawumia has championed a plethora of digital transformation initiatives, especially within the public sector. This drive won him accolades like “digitalisation man” or “digital Bawumia.”

Some of his digital initiatives include Ghana.gov payment options, mobile money interoperability, and GhanaPost GPS, amongst others.
