Bawa Mogtari calls for calm over Kintampo-Tamale accident

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Mrs. Joyce Bawa Mogtari has called on families whose relatives were involved in the accident that occurred on the Kintampo-Tamale road in which over 70 people died to remain calm.The Deputy Minister s

ays investigations into the accident have begun and therefore asked Ghanaians to wait for the professional bodies such as the police, fire service and Ghana National Ambulance to complete their investigations.

Mr. Bawa made the call when she appeared on Onua FM’s afternoon show, Ghana Dadwene hosted by Bright Asempa today.

The death toll in Wednesday’s gory accident on the Kintampo-Tamale road keeps increasing and so far a total of 71 persons have been confirmed dead.

According to the Police, 43 died on the spot. Several others died on the way to hospital whilst some lost their lives whilst on admission at various hospitals.

Mr. Bawa said “we are in a state of mourning so we should be calm and allow investigations to take place”.

She expressed the government’s condolence to the bereaved families and assured that investigations have already started.
