“…I personally call on the Police to immediately effect the arrest of all who they had seen on camera as they would in any crime that is reported instead of the piecemeal fashion they have been deploying so far in this grave matter,” he said in reference to the Anas Aremeyaw Anas video
Mr. Cudjoe made the call in a statement on his Facebook wall to retract portions of his earlier comments on the investigative video that has triggered processes by the Judicial Council to impeach some 34 judges from the High, Circuit and Magistrate courts in the country.
He had told an Accra-based Citi FM last Saturday that the public screening of the scandalous video was “lawless” in view of the pendency of some legal suits challenging the processes adopted in the production of the video by Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team as well as a motion for injunction.
“If we all decide that the day I will be caught doing something really sinful and then it would be screened for the entire world to see I am not sure I will be very happy about it. I am not too sure that I agree with the whole idea of public viewing of this without necessarily following the law.
I believe strongly that the processes should have been cleared before it was shown. I think that clearly speaking it was one piece of lawless act; that’s my layman’s view. It is important that we follow the rule of law even if these people are indeed guilty,” he said.
But Mr. Cudjoe on Tuesday morning posted a statement on his Facebook wall saying “I have to take back some of my words on my friend’s Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s recent documentary on the scandal involving some Judges and law enforcement officers”.
He said his earlier comment was to draw Ana’s attention to the fact that such an expose should first have resulted in the arrest of all those involved before the public screening to reinforce the evidence as “the maxim not guilty until proven guilty in a competent court matters”.
” Perhaps, he [Anas] did not believe the alleged culprits would have been dealt with by required arm of the state- the Executive,” he said.
Titled “Ghana in the Eyes of God – Epic of Injustice”, the three-hour edited video was a result of two year nationwide investigations by Anas.
