Party executives disqualified Peter Kaba at its vetting in Bolgatanga during the weekend on grounds that he has not been an active member of the party and in the Navrongo constituency where he is seeking to represent the people on the party’s ticket.
But about 200 polling station executives of the NDC in the Navrongo constituency at a press conference, called on the regional and national executives to allow Mr. Kaba who is seeking to unseat the Minister of the Interior, Mark Owen Woyongo.
According to them,Mr. Kaba has tirelessly supported the party since 1992 and helped capturing the seat from the NPP in 2012. They claim he has paid his membership dues and other party commitments, hence accused Mr. Woyongo for manipulating the process leading to the disqualification of Kaba.
Spokesperson for the polling station executives, Felix Kognatare, said their demand is not in any way to sabotage Mr. Woyongo but to advocate for a level playing field for every aspirant in the future.
They said the vetting should not be the absolute preserve of the constituency, regional and national executives but also the grassroots.
