Accra Mall fit for business; report on ceiling cave in ready next week – NADMO

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) says the assessment report on the Accra Mall ceiling collapse which injured three shoppers on Thursday, October, 12 would be next week. According to the Public Relations Officer for NADMO, George Ayisi who was speaking in an interview on Onua FM’s Ye Nsempa on Friday, the initial assessment of the building shows that it is safe for business transactions; hence the general public should not entertain any fear when entering into the building. The accident happened at a part of the mall near the I-Store and Huawei area. Read:[Video] Part of Accra Mall caves in According to management of the mall, the injuries were minor and that all three persons injured have since received medical attention. George Ayisi noted that his outfit got information about the incident at about 11: 50 am on Thursday, and dispatched personnel to the scene. “It was the electrical hub that caved in, and the initial assessment indicates that the mall itself is not weak…just that a portion was weak and it caved in,” he explained. “We told them to seal the place off. Patrons can also go there to buy while sellers will go on and sell. The final report will come next week because we are still doing the assessments. We are looking at the maintenance culture as well.” The Injuries The NADMO PRO also confirmed that three shoppers sustained minor injuries and they were all treated and discharged. “They were minor injuries so they were treated and discharged at the hospital yesterday”, he added.
