Ghanaians are currently struggling due to the current government’s recklessness and mismanagement of the economy, former President John Dramani Mahama has said.

Mr Mahama said the actions of the government have impoverished Ghanaians.

Delivering an address during the 10th delegate congress of the NDC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday December 17, Mr Mahama  “6 years of reckless mismanagement of the country has left our people broken and struggling to survive from one day to the next.”

He further accused the government of engaging in reckless borrowing.

In his view, the conduct of the government has resulted in a debt restructuring programme that threatens the savings of Ghanaians and the bank industry.

“The life savings of Ghanaians, pensions and banks are being threatened by a debt restructuring programme occasioned by the reckless borrowing of the Finance Minister,” he said.

He added indicated that Ghanaians are looking up to the main opposition party to form the next government in the 2024 general elections.

“Ghanaians are looking up to us to be the next government because we are the better alternative to govern this country,” he said.

He added “This NPP govt has done the worst to erode the confidence of Ghanaians in our democracy and are willing to suffer by crossing the Mediterranean sea or being electrocuted at Kasoa.”
