The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled a crunch National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for Monday, November 2 to consider postponing the date of its presidential and parliamentary primaries.

The primaries were originally scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 7 across the 275 constituencies.

But speaking on TV3’s New Day on Saturday, October 31, Vice Chairman of the party Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who is also NDC’s Director of Elections, said the meeting on Monday will make a strong case to the Functional Executive Committee for a change of date.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo, however, stated that until a final decision is taken after the meeting, the date for the primaries is still November 7.

Reports say the party is considering delaying the primaries for two more weeks – so that it is held on November 21.

Aside the contests across the 275 constituencies nationwide, the primaries will seek to endorse John Dramani Mahama as the party’s 2016 flagbearer.

Parliamentary aspirants have been at the ground campaigning to win the support of members, who are all eligible to vote.
