Voting at the Suame MA JHS was disrupted when a group of unknown thugs destroyed some of the ballot boxes.

A swift intervention by the police, however, prevented a possible clash between supporters of the two candidates.

The chaotic situation brought the entire exercise to a temporary halt.

The electoral officers were helpless as tempers flared with heated verbal exchanges.

Francis Dodovi, one of the aspirants in the Suame constituency, accused his opponent Brogya Gyamfi of infiltrating the voters’ register with foreign names.

Gyamfi was, however, not reachable for a reaction.

Chief Inspector Daniel Lomotey, who leads the police team, said the perpetrators are being pursued while a review of security arrangement at the polling station has been carried out.

Officers of the Electoral Commission have assured voters of replacing the destroyed boxes.
