K’si: Police arrest 10 small scale miners for assault, possession of weapon
Five persons who were arrested Tuesday for misconducting themselves and assaulting some police personnel during a demonstration by some small scale miners in Kumasi have been granted police bail.
They have been cautioned on assault and offensive conduct.
Five others, who had weapons such as cutlasses, hammer and other implements on them are also being held by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Juliana Obeng told Kumasi-based Akoma 87.9FM “we have given them bail,” adding that they a docket on the case has been prepared and would soon be put before court.
On the five persons arrested for carrying weapons, she said the Police was working on determining the charges to be leveled against them.
Though the leaders of the demonstrators have met with the Regional Police Command on the matter, ASP Juliana Obeng said she is yet to be briefed on what transpired at the said meeting.
