Covid-19: Ghana’s case count crosses 10k

The total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in Ghana so far is 10,201.

This is according to the latest figures released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on its website, on Tuesday, June 9.

From the release, 3,755 patients have gained full recovery from the disease while 48 could not survive it.

This leaves the country with 6,398 cases under management at a number of treatment centres mounted across the nation.

From the breakdown, 10 persons are now in “critical” conditions with four of these patients on ventilators.

Fourteen are also said to have “severe” conditions.

These numbers are from a total of 239,395 tests conducted, putting the positivity rate at 4.26 per cent.

The Greater Accra Region has so far the highest number of cases with its 6,521 infections.

The Ashanti Region follows next with 1,799 cases while the Western Region, once a hotspot, has 778 cases.

All the regions have now recorded cases of the virus after Ahafo Region, which had hitherto not recorded any case, confirmed its first case.

The disease was first recorded in the country on Thursday, March 12.
