Ghana’s coronavirus cases jumped from 35,501 on Thursday, July 30 to 37,014 on Sunday, August 2.
Despite a case jump of 1,513, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) only reported of 787.
It is unclear what may have accounted for the failure of the previous case count to appear on the Service’s website.
But from the latest update, the recoveries-cum-discharges are 33,356, from 32,096, with the deaths still at 182.
This leaves the country with 3,467 cases under care and management at health facilities scattered across the country.
Some are, however, receiving care at home, 3news.com understands.
Among these active cases, 22 are said to be in severe conditions while eight are in critical conditions. Four remain on ventilators.
The country has, so far, conducted a total of 396,731 tests since wind of the case started to be picked months ago.
The first two index cases of the disease were confirmed in March.
Regional breakdown
The Greater Accra Region continues to lead the regional breakdown with a total of 18,882 followed by the Ashanti Region (9,328).
These two regions had their capitals and contiguous communities go on lockdown in March/April to slow the spread of the virus.
Since then, Western (2,687) and Central (1,493) regions ave become the hotspot regions.
Eastern Region (1,457) is also recording an upsurge in cases.
