Queen Teiya Ayisha Dahamani, 2022 Ghana’s Most Beautiful winner, and VS Foundation provided breast cancer screening for kayaye girls in the Madina municipality.
This initiative was in accordance with Breast Cancer Awareness month (Pink October) and her GMB project to provide alternative and safe livelihoods for Kayaye girls.
Queen Teiya addressed over 130 kayaye girls in their local dialect educating them and sharing the importance of menstrual hygiene.
“Today, I feel so fulfilled that, together with the Northwill Limited, I was able to get some kayaye girls screen. It is still breast cancer week, it is still breast cancer month, and I think that everybody deserves to be screened. The reception was marvellous. I never knew that these young ladies looked up to me. This got me so emotional.”
The kayaye girls were screened for breast cancer and equipped with sanitary pads and other hygiene items.
Queen Teiya was crowned 2022 Ghana’s Most beautiful queen at the National Theatre on October 10, 2022. She was followed by Aiko, 1st runner up, and Aseidua, 2nd runner up.
