Ghana’s Covid-19 cases almost 12k

After 254,331 tests conducted, Ghana’s coronavirus cases now stand at 11,964 as at midnight Sunday, June 14.
With 4,258 recoveries and 54 deaths recorded, the country is treating 7,652 patients of the disease.
The latest update, therefore, sees 542 new cases recorded. This comes barely a few hours after 304 cases were confirmed.
It is unclear where these new infections are coming from but obviously the tallies in the country’s four hardest hit regions – Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Central – have risen sharply.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, therefore, announced the strict enforcement of an Executive Instrument (EI), which will see the mandatory wearing of face masks by all in those four regions.
“Leaving our homes without our face masks or face covering on is an offence,” President Akufo-Addo said in his nationwide broadcast on Sunday, June 14.
“The police have been instructed to enforce this directive which is the subject of an Executive Instrument (EI).”
The Upper East Region has also seen a marginal increase in infections from 128 cases to 241 on Sunday.
