Five health workers test positive for coronavirus in E/R
Five health workers in the Eastern Region have been infected with Covid-19.
As at Tuesday, May 5, the Region has recorded 95 cases of the deadly virus and is ranked third behind Greater Accra and Ashanti as regions with the most cases.
Birim Central Municipality is the new municipality with one returnee case to join , bringing the number of districts affected to seven.
Three districts – Fanteakwa North, Denkyembour and West Akyem – have recorded four clinical cases.
Before five were infected, health workers in the Region had raised several concerns of lack of personal protective equipment (PPEs) at health facilities across the region.
District health facilities are said to be stretching themselves to respond to Covid-19 cases.
Lower Manya Krobo Municipality leads the Region with 69 cases, followed by Asuogyaman with 12, Fanteakwa North with five, Akwapim North with three, Denkyembour with two, West Akyem and Birim Central with one each.
The Eastern Region has 33 MMDAs.
