World football-governing body Fifa is yet to meet over the corruption allegations that have hit some officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), most notably its president, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

After a documentary film by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas was publicly screened on Wednesday and Thursday, the government took immediate steps to dissolve the country’s football governing body.

Moves like that have attracted Fifa sanctions for many countries, most of the times being bans.

editors.3news.com‘s editor Emmanuel Kwame Amoh on Thursday contacted FIFA to glean its reaction as regards the developments so far.

Alois Hug of FIFA Media stated in an email response: “FIFA is closely following this matter and gathering additional information.”

He added: “Please understand we cannot comment further at this stage.”

But the FIFA Council is scheduled to meet on Sunday ahead of its 68th Congress on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It waits to be seen if Mr Nyantakyi will attend that Meeting.

Meanwhile, the Executive Committee of the GFA will meet on Friday to decide on the way forward.

Sources say a delegation will go to government to soften its stance in order not to attract an imminent FIFA ban.
