The youth organisers of the major Nkrumahist parties are calling on their mother parties to come together and form an alliance to claim power from the hands of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to the youth organisers, who have for the past two years been together in the Coalition of National Youth Organisers, a combined force is the only way the Ghanaian voter can have trust in them for power to be handed over.

“To be able to rescue Ghanaians and re-write the narrative, we have to adhere to an advice which is as old as time ‘Together we stand,  divided we fall’,” the Coalition said in a statement on Friday, December 30.

“Let us not forget that, once upon a time, the NDC in their hungry quest for power, joined forces with other political parties including the National Convention Party (NCP) with senior comrade Kow Nkensen Arkaah as its leader in order to win the 1992 General elections.

“Let’s remember that, for the greater good and seeing the strength in Unity of Forces, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) until the year 2002 had ‘Co-National chairmen’ just to make sure all the big weights are incorporated to build a stronger force.”

The Coalition also cited how some four political parties in Nigeria came together to form the All People’s Congress (APC), which won elections and is now the ruling party.

“With zeros and ones as our garnered votes in Constituencies with thousands of voters, in front of our individual parties and little or sometimes no personnel, no resources and enough funds in our coffers, it is time to combine forces.”

The Coalition said they have been able to do this in the past two years and, so, it is possible.

“Let us remember that alone in our individual parties, our dream to capture political power may continue to be just a dream, another false illusion, and a shadow in the night, but together with combined ideas, resources, human power with one purpose, we are just a leap away.”
