Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid glowing tribute to world football legend Pele.

The ex-Brazilian footballer died on Thursday, December 29 at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo. He was 82.

Tributes have poured in for the only man to have won the FIFA World Cup three times.

President Akufo-Addo on Friday, December 30 took to his official Twitter page to express condolences, on behalf of the people of Ghana, to Pele’s family, the Brazilian people, the Brazilian government and football lovers in general.

There has been a 3-day national mourning declared in Brazil with the funeral scheduled for next week.

Full name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé had been suffering kidney and prostrate problems in recent times.
