The President’s nominee for Bole District in the Savannah Region, Veronica Alele Herming, has been rejected by Assembly members.

Madam Alele polled 17 ‘Yes’ votes and 22 ‘No’ votes out of 39 total valid votes cast on Tuesday.

Madam Veronica Alele Herming is among three District Chief Executives renominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, September 19.

Voting started around 4:00pm.

Before the start of the exercise, the Presiding Member of the Bole District Assembly appealed to the assembly members to confirm the nominee.

However, at the end of polls, the nominee polled only 43 percent, below the required threshold to be confirmed.

Though her first attempt, she will have to be renominated by the President to qualify her to the next round.

This brings to a total of two DCEs rejected by assembly members in the Region.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, Barkisu Losina, has been successfully confirmed by assembly members.

Barkisu Losina had earlier paid a courtesy call on the chief of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba

She polled 43 yes votes out of 47 valid votes cast, representing 91 percent.

Madam Barkisu Losina assured the Assembly of her commitment to running an open administration to drive home development.

“My confirmation is an indication that we can work together and I promise to run an open and consultative administration to drive home development.”

Member of Parliament for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency Andrew Chiwetey called on the confirmed DCE to engage stakeholders.

“This District is lacking several development and I implore you to rally all stakeholders to bridge the gap of development.”
