A 49-year-old vulcanizer, Fuseini Issah, is in the grips of the Nyankpala police for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl. His arrest follows a complaint by parents of the victim after she complained of abdominal pains. The suspect allegedly gave the victim a GH¢1 note and warned her not to disclose the incident to anyone. Confirming the incident to 3news.com in Tamale, the Northern Regional Police Crime Officer, Superintendent Otuo Acheampong, confirmed that the incident was reported by the parents of the girl. He revealed that on Monday, June 22 at about 9:00 am the victim went out on an errand for her father. Suspect Fuseini Issah called her to send her but she refused. Supt. Acheampong indicated that around 10:00am same day, the victim’s mother sent her to dump refuse. Suspect again called her and lured her into his room and forcefully defiled her. He allegedly gave her the GH¢1 note and warned her not to disclose the incident to anyone. On Friday, June 26, the victim began complaining of abdominal pains and when her parents asked her, she disclosed her ordeal with suspect. At the police station, the girl was issued a medical form to go to the hospital for gynaecological examination. “The report we received show that there was no penetration so we charged the suspect for attempted defilement.” He said the suspect has been processed for court.
