A court in Ghana has denied bail to 21 lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender-diverse (LGBT+) activists for the fourth time, two weeks after they were arrested.

The 21 were arrested in Volta Region’s Ho town at a meeting to discuss LGBT rights.

They were accused of unlawful assembly.

The UN called for their release stating that they were discriminated against and arrested because of their sexual orientation.

It isn’t unlawful to identify as LGBT in Ghana but sexual acts between males are illegal in the country.
