A member of a mediating committee for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Isaac Kofi Sagoe, has told Connect FM that the impasse between the Western Region Secretary of the party, Charles Nanabayin Onuawonto Bissue, and Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsueam Constituency George Mireku Duker has been amicably resolved.

He explained that the two have agreed to let go of any misgivings they have towards each other and work to ensure that the party wins the 2020 general elections.

In an exclusive interview, Dr. Kofi Sagoe confirmed that the five-member committee had a closed-door meeting with the two aggrieving members over the weekend where they were made to share their misgivings.

Dr. Sagoe, however, failed to disclose the source of the impasse between the two members who have been good friends for decades.

He shrugged off earlier claims that the conflict was as a result of a galamsey issue, which alleged that Mr Bissue had failed to return seized excavators belonging to the MP.

According to him, the committee reminded the two that all personal interests should not in any way be made to override that of the party.

Dr. Kofi Sagoe indicated that the two have promised to work together with Mr. Bissue promising to join Mr. Duker on his campaign tour as a show of good faith.

He further stated that supporters of the two will be engaged to avoid anything unruly when they see each other.

This is due to an audio that went viral in which an alleged supporter of the MP threatened to beat Mr. Bissue when he comes to Tarkwa Nsuaem.

    Background

The regional secretary, Charles Bissue, and the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker, at an election training meeting in Takoradi engaged in a “fight” after they both accused each other of working against the interest of the party.
