Achimota School has been crowned the new winners of TV3’s reality cooking contest Kitchen Wars Season II.

The Accra-based school beat competition from Tamale Senior High School, Holy Child School and Tema Senior High School to emerge the new champions of the culinary competition, taking over from maiden winners West Africa SHS.

They amassed a total of 266 points to win the coveted trophy.

Tamasco came 2nd while Holy Child and Temasco came 3rd and 4th respectively

With this feat, the Akoras walk away with the GH¢10,000 cash prize and a trip abroad. They will also receive souvenirs and products from the lead sponsors, GB Foods.

From a mystery basket of ingredients presented not only to them but all other contesting schools, Achimota School made coconut rice with grilled pineapple to go with it as their main dish.

After tasting the dish, the judges commended the Achimotans for their presentation as well as the end product.

“I liked the tomato sauce because it is very rich,” one of the judges, Chef Freeman remarked. “It was very nice the coconut rice and the mashed potato is very seasoned. There is no lump and it’s very smooth.”

For Gino’s brand ambassador Jackie Appiah, who was also a guest judge, the chicken from Achimota School was what swept her off her feet.

“The chicken is very tasty. I love chicken so when I see a good one I know. And it tastes good.”

For the vociferous Temasco fans who came to the Aviation Social Centre in their numbers, it was disappointment for them as their school came last with 162 points

They, however, took home GH¢4,000 as well as products from sponsors.

Tamasco, which placed 2nd with 235 points, will walk home with GH¢8,000 and products from sponsors.

With Holy Child won GH¢6,000 for placing 3rd. They will also receive products from sponsors.
