‘COVID-19 and Russia-Ukraine war affected everybody’ – Samini weighs in on hardship in Ghana

Reggae dancehall artist Samini has offered his assessment of President Akufo-Addo’s performance, highlighting the effects of the world crises brought on by the coronavirus pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on his administration.
The singer expressed his admiration for the president’s efforts in governing the country and acknowledged the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic in the current economic landscape.
According to Samini, the past four years have been particularly challenging for President Akufo-Addo due to global events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, which have adversely affected economies worldwide.
“I think it was an unfortunate 4-year period for him due to what happened globally, which every economy complained about. These are the aftermaths of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war. It has affected everybody,” he said during an interview with Berla Mundi on the Day Show.
Samini further commented on the issue of corruption in contemporary governance of which he stated that in today’s political landscape, very few individuals, if any, remain untainted by corruption, except for a select few who prioritize their reputation and integrity.
He asserted, “Nobody is free from corruption in today’s governance. Well, there are certain few people who would try to navigate governance without any stains on their record because of their own self-esteem and social status, but people are tainted, whether they acknowledge it or not, before the day is over.”
