Commercial activities and movement of people came to a standstill Monday morning at Manhia, Borkorborko, Afoaman, and Ablekuma all within the Ga Central Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. This was as a result of the decision by some residents of these communities to block the roads in protest against the deplorable nature of the roads in the area. School children were not allowed to leave the area for schools in and outside the areas as most students and pupils were seen hovering around the area. The demonstrators burnt vehicle tires and prevent vehicles, both private and commercial from moving. However, residents who were awake and ready by 5:00 am were able to board some commercial vehicles traveling from the area to their various destinations, but movement seized after that. As at the time the editors.3news.com’s Maxwell Otoo got to the scene, there were no security personnel or authorities from the District Assembly to intervene in the situation. Some students who spoke to editors.3news.com expressed disappointment in the government over the refusal to fix the road which had resulted in their inability to go to school on Monday.
