August Alsina’s private life went viral when he revealed his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith’s wife. Another shocker threatening to break the internet is the singer hinting at a change of sexuality, introducing another man as the recipient of his love.
In November, August seemingly revealed his ‘boyfriend’ on the tv show VH1’s The Surreal Life. August disclosed how participation allowed him to “allow others to see themselves through me.”
August added that his experiences on the show exposed him to a love that “defies all the constructs.”
“Love showed up but in a new way. I want to share that and really honour the person I love and who loves me back and teaching me so much about love and healing. I want to do that in front of the world because it defies all the constructs that one would say love is supposed to be or love should look like.”
After this announcement, August introduced a man on screen, where they hug each other, exchanging ‘I love you’s’.
Some people believe this ‘announcement’ is not an admission of being a member of the LGBT community. Others have pointed the man whom August Alsina introduced works as a model for his skincare brand, Encina Wellness, and hence can be a different kind of love.
Zu, the mystery man at the centre of August’s sexuality controversy, was once referred to by August his little brother.
August dated several women before his scandal with Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. But he told Angela Yee that he had never been in love before entangling with Jada.
In 2013, August Alsina dated Mandy Williams until they broke up in 2015, whilst rumoured that the breakup happened because he was linked with Kayla Phillips. He later dated Miracle Watts after Mandy Williams, but that relationship ended in 2016. Since breaking up with Jada Smith in 2019, August hasn’t been seen with anyone.
