Atsu scores as Newcastle climb into Top 4

Atsu scored from the back post
Black Stars forward Christian Atsu was on target on Saturday as Newcastle United beat Stoke City 2-1 to record their third successive win in the 2017/18 English Premier League. Atsu tucked in a Matt Ritchie ball in the 19th minute at St James’ Park for the opening goal of the game. The goal is the Ghanaian’s first in the League since joining, Chelsea, in 2014. He had been on a goal drought during his stints with Everton and AFC Bournemouth. Though Xherdan Shaqiri equalized for the Potters in the second half, skipper Jamaal Lascelles headed home a winner from another Ritchie cross. The Magpies go fourth with nine points while the visitors drop to 13th. Rafa Benitez’s men next travel to Brighton. Other scores on Saturday, September 16, 2017: Crystal Palace     0-1          Southampton Huddersfield      1-1          Leicester City Liverpool            1-1          Burnley Watford              0-6          Man City West Brom         0-0          West Ham Utd Tottenham          0-0          Swansea City By Emmanuel Kwame Amoh|editors.3news.com|Ghana
