ACP Dr Benjamin Agordzo who is standing trial over an alleged coup plot is still in police custody despite being granted bail by an Accra High Court on Tuesday. ACP Agordzo was granted a self-recognisance bail in the sum of GH¢500,000 and is expected to report to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) or his representative twice every week for the next three months and once a week afterwards. His passport has also been seized, editors.3news.com gathers. But speaking on TV3’s News 360 on Wednesday, January 22, a brother to ACP Dr Agordzo, Cephas, says the senior police officer is still in custody somewhere in an “apartment” within the Police Headquarters. He said the police refused to even allow him to go to court to sign his bail conditions and it had to take the court to write to the IGP for him to be escorted to do so. Cephas Agordzo said the family thought it was the BNI which was behind the arrests, not knowing elements within the Ghana Police Service have a hand in the whole trial. “Now we know it is Ghana Police CID who are doing the whole thing,” he told news presenter Alfred Ocansey.
