The water scarcity at Nsawam-Adoagyiri and its environs is having a serious impact on the budget of the Nsawam Medium Prisons.

The Ghana Prisons Service says it needs five water tankers to provide water to the inmates at Nsawam everyday, which in monetary term is expensive for it to bear with regards to its limited budget.

The Deputy National Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Prisons Service, ASP Francis Agyiri Kwakye told Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Kwame Karikari that the cost of a tanker is GHS150.00 which the service did not budget for.

ASP Kwakye said those whose situation has put pressure on their budget are women because they use more water than men.

Not even the Member of Parliament, District Chief Executive or any government official has made any move to solve their water problem, he noted.
