[Video] Asiedu Nketia blames 2016 defeat on Kofi Portuphy, Kofi Adams et al

November 8, 2018

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has blamed the party’s defeat in the 2016 elections on national executives elected in 2014.

Describing those executives as “quinine”, Mr Asiedu Nketia said the elected executives had no experience and that is what led the party back into opposition.

General Mosquito, as he is popularly called, made this know while campaigning to be re-elected, claiming he cannot turn his back against the party at this time.

He told delegates that with John Dramani Mahama elected as leader in 2020 and him as the General Secretary, NDC will return to power.

The 2014 national executive elections saw the likes of Dr Kofi Portuphy and Kofi Adams being elected as National Chairman and National Organiser respectively.

They defeated then Chairman Dr Kwabena Adjei and Yaw Boateng Gyan in that year’s national executive elections.

Others like Anita De So-soo were retained but to a different position.

According to General Mosquito, those new executives became spokes in the wheels of the 2010 elected executives.

He literally described them as quinine in the gari of the executive body.
