West Ham United are getting closer to signing attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus from Ajax, according to the Athletic.

West Ham have made an official offer of €41 million, with an additional €3 million in potential add-ons. This proposed deal also includes a 10% sell-on clause, with Ajax expected to accept and let Kudus go.

Personal terms have been worked out with the 23-year-old Ghanaian, paving the way for a potential five-year contract with a sixth-year option.

Earlier, The Athletic reported that West Ham’s initial bid for Kudus was rejected by Ajax. Kudus’ contract expires in 2025, and he turned down a one-year contract extension offered in April.

Kudus’ name has been mentioned a lot during the summer transfer window, as he has piqued the interest of several prestigious clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal. A bid for the attacking midfielder had previously been accepted by Brighton & Hove Albion, but personal terms proved a stumbling block.

Kudus has left his mark on Ajax after joining from Danish side Nordsjaelland three years ago. In 63 Eredivisie appearances, he has 16 goals. His international contributions include seven goals in 24 matches for Ghana, including two in the most recent World Cup in Qatar.
