Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu has described referee Joesph Kenny Padi as bad following his side’s defeat to former club Medeama on Wednesday.
Boadu accused Padi of wanting “to destroy our team” after the referee awarded Medeama a contentious penalty that helped them beat Hearts 1-0 in the Ghana Premier League week 6 outstanding fixture.
Aside from that, Hearts ended the game with 10 players after striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior picked up a second yellow card in stoppage time.
The game was heading for a draw when Medeama were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute. Hearts defender barged into onrushing Ahmed Toure inside the box.
Former Hearts defender Vincent Atingah converted the spot-kick to secure the crucial victory for Medeama.
“I don’t talk about officiating but for today I think the referee was bad. He awarded Medeama SC a dubious penalty and I actually don’t know the motive behind the red card. Maybe he wants to destroy our team,” Boadu angrily said.
The defeat leaves Hearts of Oak in seventh place, nine points behind league leaders Kotoko.
Hearts’ final outstanding game is against Kotoko and will be played on February 20.
