The final match of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations on Saturday has been decided. It will be between defending champions Nigeria and South Africa, two sides who squared off in the opening Group B match at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons sailed through to their 11th final after beating Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses 4-2 on penalties. The first semi-final match, played at the Accra Sports Stadium, failed to produce goals in full regulation time and the penalty spot became the decider. The second semi-final game saw sudden bookmakers’ favourites South Africa beat Mali 2-0 in Cape Coast. The goals were scored in either half. Thembi Kgatlana’s feeble shot after a miskick by a Malian defender beat goalkeeper Adoudou Konate for the opener. Deep into the game – precisely with 10 minutes to go – Ester Ramalepe’s non-threatening cross into the Malian goal area was not able to be punched out by Konate, becoming a howler and cementing a final place for the Banyana Banyana. By their semi-final wins, Nigeria and South Africa have booked a ticket to represent Africa at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. The third ticket will go to either Mali or Cameroon, who face off in the third-place play-off at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Friday. The final on Saturday will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium. By Emmanuel Kwame Amoh|3news.com|Ghana  ]]>
