Rennes have surprisingly beaten Ajax to the signing of highly-rated Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to French media.

According to L’Équipe and RMC Sport, the Ligue 1 side have pulled off a major coup in convincing the teenager to move from FC Nordsjælland, beating Ajax at the last minute, with the Dutch side having been convinced that they were going to land the player.

RMC believe that Sulemana will arrive in France tonight to undergo a medical with the Brittany side tomorrow – OGC Nice also attempted to sign the player but failed.

The Ghanaian international has been the subject of a €15m plus bonuses offer by both Rennes and Ajax to FC Nordsjælland, but the French side appear to have won out.

The 19-year-old will play on the opposite flank to Belgium international of Ghanaian descent Jeremy Doku for coach Bruno Genesio this season.

Last season, Kamaldeen scored 10 goals and assisted four for Nordsjælland in the Danish top-flight.

Sulemana has been capped two times by Ghana since his debut last year.
