Referees caught taking bribe in Anas video blacklisted

The Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) says all referees and assistant referees who captured in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas investigative documentary allegedly taking bribes to influence games should not be appointed for any football match. About 17 referees and match officials were captured on tape receiving monies from undercover investigators from Tiger Eye PI who posed as agents for some premiere league clubs. They included James Osafo, Jason Nunoo, Kennedy Bentil, Adams Badiu, Alhassan Badiu, Safi Adade, Samuel Sukah and Kyereme Yeboah. The rest are Cecil Flecther, Nathan Anafo, Harry Atitonu, Umar Teni Wellington, Charles Dawouna and Rahman Salifu. A statement from RAG advised any football club or team which needs the services of football referees to put in a request through the Regional Association for its sanction and appointment. The decision was taken based on the Number 12 investigative documentary which was premiered in Accra on June 6, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre. The Association said it was making efforts to secure a copy of the video from Tiger Eye PI for its study and further action. It has thus asked referees to remain calm and be focused in this trying and difficult moment.
