Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of England international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of €103 million (c. £88m) that could potentially rise up to €133.9m (c. £114m) with add-ons.

The La Liga side failed to retain either the Champions League or domestic league trophy this season under Carlo Ancelotti, and have moved swiftly to recruit the player that was widely regarded as their priority target for the summer transfer window.

Bundesliga side Dortmund confirmed that they had agreed a deal to sell for €103 million euros (£86 million), but that another €30m could be added in the form of add-ons, in an official announcement last week but now Madrid have officially confirmed that the entire move is completed.

Bellingham has signed a six-season deal until 2029 and there will be a presentation on Thursday for his unveiling.

The initial Dortmund statement had read: “With realisation of this transfer, Real Madrid will pay BVB a fixed transfer compensation in the amount of 103.0 m. EUR. In addition, the payment of variable transfer fees up to a maximum total amount of around 30% of the amount of the fixed transfer fee has been agreed.”

Bellingham joined Dortmund in 2020 and was already attracting interest from Premier League clubs, and his form in Germany and with the England international team saw the list of admirers only grow.

He had been linked with most of the top sides in England, but Real Madrid emerged as favourites for his signature and they have now landed the 19-year-old midfielder, with current Real midfielders Luka Modric and Toni Kroos expected to be phased out over the coming season.

Bellingham enjoyed his best goalscoring form for Dortmund this season, hitting 14 goals in 42 appearances, and was one of England’s standout players at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last year.
