With a strong will, the lads and lasses of Chantan District brushed  aside stiff competition, from 21  teams to annex the coveted trophy for the 2018 edition of The Church of Pentecost Kaneshie Area Youth Ministry’s Evangelism and Fun Games. Not even mighty Kaneshie District, dreaded Israel District or talented youngsters from Adwen-Bu District could stop Chantan from amassing a maximum 28 Points to dethrone defending champions, Shalom Worship Centre. Staged on Easter Monday at the ultramodern Accra Academy astro turf park, the fun games which is in its fourth year was graciously graced by the Kaneshie Area Head, Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue and other Pastors in the Area. It was held under the auspices of the Area Youth Pastor, Daniel Okyei Boakye. [caption id="attachment_80558" align="aligncenter" width="629"] Area Head, Aps. Mike Etrue in action[/caption] Aside creating the avenue for the thousands of youth in the Kaneshie Area to stay connected in fellowship and bond in the spirit of love, it served as an opportunity to use sports evangelism to win souls for Christ. The teams competed in various disciplines including football, volley ball, table tennis, eating competition, lime and spoon, tug of peace, sack race and athletics. It was all fun as both patrons and participants got thrilled by the various activities. Perhaps, what would be immortalized in the memory of all who thronged the venue was when the Area Head, Aps. Mike Etrue led the Area XI to flex muscles against Kaneshie District in soccer. The Area team, which included the Youth Pastor, Youth Executives, and Elders, exhibited some dexterity to the admiration of all. But the youthful side from Kaneshie District showed them their smoothness level so they appreciate that when they are ‘deserted’ by the Holy Spirit, the youth are masters on the field; bagging two unanswered goals for the Area XI to humbly take home. All said and done, Chantan District emerged the overall winners of the memorable event on April 2. New entrant, Mount Zion Worship Centre shared the second place spoils with Old Fadama District with 22 Points appease. They were followed by Israel and Darkuman Districts with 20 Points Each. Defending champions, Shalom Worship Centre could only manage 17 Points, which relegated them to the 10th position. In attendance at the Evangelism and Fun Games were Pastors Emmanuel Danah, Kingsley Addai, Samuel Tetteh Doku, Mrs Abigail Okyei Boakye, Mrs Victoria Tetteh Doku and Mrs Abishag Asamoah Boakye among several Elders and officers of the Church. Apostle Mike Etrue was elated by the patronage and commended the Youth Ministry in the Area for their commitment over the years to find useful means of getting the youth to celebrate the Easter holiday. He urged the youth to take advantage of such events to foster their relationship with one another and also build their physical and spiritual welfare in Christ. Rev. Daniel Okyei Boakye, the Kaneshie Area Youth Pastor, charged the youth to make the best out of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. “We are happy that Jesus has risen so we decided to come together as a family to have fun through sports, make new friends and win more souls for the kingdom of God,” he said.
