Partey, Afena-Gyan out as 24 players travel to Johannesburg for Ethiopia match

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed midfielder Thomas Partey’s unavailability for the Black Stars’ important clash with Ethiopia on Thursday.

The Arsenal man, who has a groin injury, is not included in the 24-man squad named by Milovan Rajevac for the World Cup qualifier in Johannesburg.

Also excluded is injured Jonathan Mensah and youngster Felix Afena-Gyan who hasn’t been released by AS Roma.

The team trained on Tuesday morning ahead of the trip.

Ghana, second in Group G, are hoping to beat Ethiopia at the Orlando Stadium to stay in contention to qualify for the final round of the qualifiers.

Three days after the Ethiopia match, Black Stars will face off with South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium. This match is likely to decide which team tops the group.
