Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed his dismay at the recent performances of the Black Stars.

Okraku is eager to see the national team make a comeback after their disappointing showings in two friendlies held in the United States this month.

Chris Hughton’s team endured defeats in both matches, losing 2-0 to Mexico and suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to the United States in Tennessee. These games exposed the team’s vulnerabilities, particularly in defence and attack, as they managed only two shots on target in a total of 180 minutes of play.

Criticism has been widespread following these games, with Hughton, the players, and even Okraku himself facing their share of scrutiny.

In a Facebook post, Okraku openly admitted, “Our Black Stars must rise again, but I’m a disturbed servant.”

Black Stars aim to bounce back next month as they prepare to face Madagascar and Comoros in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Following that, they will head to Ivory Coast for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to commence in January 2024. Black Stars will face formidable opponents, including record holders Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique in the group stage.
