Former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi has rallied support for the new technical team of Black Stars led by former midfielder Otto Addo.

“All that is required of us is to support the GFA so we can qualify to the World Cup,” Nyantakyi said on GTV Sports Plus on Thursday, February 10. “We have only two games and it is not the time to start blaming anybody.”

Otto Addo will lead the Black Stars for the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria with support from two assistant coaches – former Netherlands international George Boateng and former Asante Kotoko gaffer Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

Former Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United coach Chris Hughton completes the technical team. He was named Technical Advisor, a surprising decision having been tipped for head coach position with the backing of government.

Black Stars will play Nigeria twice in late March for a place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana will host the first leg on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Cape Coast Stadium before travelling to Abuja for the return leg, scheduled for March 27 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

Ghana are hoping to make a return to the global showpiece after missing out on the 2018 edition.

Nigeria, meanwhile, were in Russia and are confident of a second consecutive appearance.
