Kwesi Nyantakyi (left) was captured saying “we will control Ghana in a way”[/caption] Finally, some Ghanaians have had the opportunity to see the latest investigative piece by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas. It was first shown at 3:00pm on Wednesday at the Accra International Conference Centre. Embattled President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi is the viewers’ villain but the preceding 60 minutes of the film exposed the rot within football’s corridors of power. Referees and football administrators – one who is a former footballer – were caught in several underhand dealings in the video. And when Kwesi Nyantakyi appeared, it was an uproar inside the auditorium. Mr Nyantakyi, who is the First Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is captured – in one scene – packing cash into a polythene bag from a Sheikh. “You have to sort out me and my brother Abu,” he said in the video. He stated how things are inflated in Ghana, citing how an overpass in New York costs less than one in Ghana. He quickly drafts a couple of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) for a contract to be signed, after his proposal to create a company – NAMAX – as an agency in a sponsorship deal for the GFA. After signing the MOU for NAMAX, he allocates 20 – 25 per cent as fee to his agency.
