Nigeria’s Super Eagles have chalked a historic feat as the first nation to qualify for a Round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations. The three-time champions beat Guinea 1-0 on Wednesday courtesy a second half strike by Kenneth Omeruo to book a place in the knock-out round despite having a game in hand in Group B. They had won their first match by the same scoreline over Burundi. With three points going into Wednesday’s encounter, the Eagles were all but guaranteed a place in the Round of 16 if they managed a win over Guinea, who drew their first game 2-2 against debutantes Madagascar. And the 2013 winners managed to get the needed win after Leganes defender Omeruo connected a corner kick with a header in the 73rd minute. Nigeria will next play Madagascar in their final group game on Sunday. Guinea must win their final Group B game with Burundi and expect a favourable result in the Burundi-Madagascar game to be played on Thursday. Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
