Former Asante Kotoko striker, Ibrahim Osman has claimed the former CEO of the club Nana Yaw Amponsah has ignored and eventually blocked him from reaching out to him for help following his long-term injury sustained over a year ago.
The attacker has spent time on loan with King Faisal a few times, but he was unfortunate to sustain an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that necessitated substantial medical attention which he has been denied due to inadequate funds and ultimately slowed down his recovery.
According to him several attempts to receive help from the club have proved futile with Nana Yaw Amponsah giving him excuses in the past which has kept him in a horrible situation and his career stricken with pessimism.
He further stated that the authorities of the club are very aware of his situation but have opted to ignore him.
“I contacted Nana Yaw Amponsah after the results came in and told him about the situation and he told me the club was about to leave for pre-season in Sudan and he will know what to do when they return,” Osman whose contract expired in June 2023 told Sahara Football.
“When they returned, I reminded him of the situation and told him to alert the club to help me but he told me that ‘pressure was on him’. He didn’t give me an explanation whenever I contacted him until one day, he blocked me.”
“Everyone at the club (Asante Kotoko) knows what I am going through. Everyone; Emmanuel Dasoberi and the others, they are all aware and they decided not to help and I don’t know why,” he added.
Osman continued to seek help as he claimed his situation had left him ideal at home.
“Frankly speaking, I need help badly because I have no one. People think I have travelled out of the country but I am in my house, I didn’t go anywhere.”
Meanwhile, Osman’s situation has further fueled conversations regarding the negligence of Ghanaian clubs and their attitude towards player welfare.
Sylvester Sackey, a goalkeeper for Legon Cities, was declared dead earlier this week following a brief sickness, while William Essu, another goalkeeper for the squad, is trying to recover from a condition and eventually sought financial assistance to attend to his health.
