Ghana forward Jordan Ayew has revealed that his mother stopped watching Black Stars’ World Cup clash against South Korea due to the intensity of the game.

In the team’s second match in the tournament which was hosted in Qatar last year, Ghana gave away a 2-0 lead after the break allowing the South Koreans to capitalise on a couple of errors to tie the game at the Education City Stadium.

However, Kudus who scored Ghana’s second goal had another chance and buried it sealing Ghana’s first and only win at the tournament.

Meanwhile, with both sons Jordan and Andre playing, Ayew’s mother was unable to watch on following the pressure the Asian Tigers mounted on the Black Stars which eventually got them the two goals.

According to Ayew, she left even before Ghana got the winner.

“My Mum, after 65 or 70 minutes, she couldn’t watch the game anymore,”

“She had to leave the stadium! We like [the tension] like that, we enjoy it.

“It was very stressful for her. She is very passionate about the game as well, so she just couldn’t watch. With her two sons playing it was not easy for her,” Ayew told Crystal Palace media.

The win instilled confidence in the Black Stars as they marched into their third group game against their rivals Uruguay but unfortunately lost 2-0 confirming their exit from the group stage.
