FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Friday that Morocco will host the next Club World Cup in February.

The tournament will return to Morocco for the third time from February 1 to 11, 2023, Infantino announced at a press conference in Doha.

Infantino also stated that there are plans for an expanded version of the competition to begin in 2025.

Morocco hosted the Club World Cup in 2013 and again in 2014, while the most recent edition was held in the United Arab Emirates in February, with Chelsea taking home the trophy.

For the time being, the competition will be held in its current format, with the champions of the six continental federations competing alongside the top team from the host nation.

European champions Real Madrid, who won the 2014 Club World Cup in Morocco, will represent Europe after winning the UEFA Champions League last season.

Flamengo of Brazil, Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, Seattle Sounders of the United States, and Auckland City of New Zealand are the other current continental champions.
