Mohammed Kudus is set to miss the rest of 2021 due to the rib injury sustained while on Ghana duty.

Ajax manager Ten Hag on Sunday confirmed that Kudus’ injury is serious and doesn’t expect him to play again this year.

Kudus got injured last week Sunday during the Black Stars crucial victory against South Africa in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

He signalled to the bench to be substituted in the 12th minute following an off-the-ball incident.

After undergoing tests in the Netherlands, it appears the injury is worse than initially feared and will need more time to recover.

With the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations barely two months away, there are fears that the injury could rule him out of the tournament in Cameroon.

The tournament starts on January 9 and Black Stars are expected to start preparations in late December.

Kudus has suffered five different injuries since his move to Dutch giants in August last year.
